Swasthayam ( Health) is defined as the normal functioning of physical elements ( dosha/ dhatu/ mala ) along with a placid state of mental elements ( atma/indriya/ manas ) . There has to be harmony of body , mind and spirit , thus emphasizing the ability of either of them to initiate disease process. The understanding of its normal qualities and everyday functions helps to understand any alteration thereby helping us realize signals given out by the system and attend to it at the right time.
The same has been re-instated today.
"Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." - WHO
The ultimate aim is to regard your body as your most prized possession. Because that is where the mind and soul resides. Your health is your instrument and maintaining it is the best thing you can do to yourself.
And I will always say this,
"Take care of your body now,
And watch your body taking care of you later"

Very good Topic to start with.
ReplyDeleteWe 'Humans' do a lot of things in this present scenario, ultimately whatever it is, its for the same reason - "HEALTH"
As they say, a Wealthy person is one who is healthy in heart, soul n mind.
Even though everyone is aware of this fact, still, .....In todays scenario, food plays a big role. This technology and packaged food products have brought in new health disorders. This could be the main reason behind bringing down the life span.
Waiting to hear more on HEALTH from you DOCTOR'S.....
though our mind plays a major role in maintaing the state of health ....equally does our food too!
ReplyDeleteother factors that may influence is the climate....
knowing these constantly altering factors(be it our mind, food or climate) our achayas have listed out the dinacharyas and rutucharyas where a mention of all the pathyas(do's) and apathyas(dont's) relating to body , mind and food have been vry elaborately given....that is why ayurveda is not just curative but also contributes equally towards prevention of the ill-effects of the above said altering factors which ultimately means disease-prevention!
